The New
Year eve came and we had parties. Perhaps about half the population in the
country organized parties in their own capacities. And now we’re into the new
year, hoping it would hold immense possibilities for all of us. Almost all of
us had a resolution for the new year – 2012. We always wish the coming days
would be good for us and our dreams would come true.
Yes, we all
have dreams. In fact, what are humans without dreams? Even the most helpless
person on the street also has a dream, the most notorious criminal and the most
corrupt person in the country also has one. Learned people say that ‘dream’ is
the foundation of all success, the way forward. The road to success begins with
‘dreaming’. We can’t be big without a dream.
Now, as a nation, what are our dreams? Undoubtedly, we want
to develop our economy, have a sound operating system, have a great life for
all. The list of our dreams can be unusually long, longer than that of any
other country in the world. From the political leadership sitting in a
aristocratic environment to a rickshaw-puller on the street, everyone talks
about how to make this country a better place to live in. There’s no dearth of
ideas across the country – at the tea table, in the parliament, in the fields –
everywhere.
Interestingly, no one talks about how to implement our
dreams. How many of us remember our new year resolution in the middle of the
year and work accordingly? We simply forget that we had a resolution on the
first day of the year.
We set goals and ubiquitously, we simply become oblivious of
those goals. But teachers as well as management gurus across the world say
‘remembering your goals is important’, more important than earning your daily
bread and butter. They say your goal will take you to your bread and butter.
You won’t have to worry about it when your goal is achieved.
So, how to
implement your dream? The first task would be to set a target and make an
action plan to reach to the target. And ‘consistency’ is the name of the game
in order to accomplish your objective. Without being consistent with our goal,
we won’t be able to achieve anything, no matter what the dream is.
Don’t you think our resolution for 2012 should
be setting goals, both in our individual and national lives? Side by side with
accomplishing our own goals, each and every one us must achieve at least one
goal for the country.
